Today’s #MusicMonday features the reappearance of our friends at Elevation Worship, with their song “All Things New!”

Take a look at these words from Revelation 21:1-5 with me:

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

We serve a God who has promised all will be made new. You might be familiar with the famous verse from 2 Corinthians 5, where Paul proclaims that if we are in Christ, we are new creations! Here in Revelation John hears the voice in the Holy City that proclaims our world is made new. It is restored into the perfect place that God created it to be.

As Christ followers, we get a chance to celebrate being made new in Christ. Many of us don’t feel new. If you’re like me, you’re all too aware of the sin you carry and the struggles that you have. I think God’s invitation and reminder to us today is that starting now, we can live a new life. We don’t have to be defined by a sinful past but instead our glorious future. And what’s more, God is inviting each and every one of us to bring that glorious future about, joining him in the work of restoring our world. Each time we serve, each time we share Christ, each time we step into situations and allow God to use us, we are joining him in his work of restoration as we live sent.

Let’s celebrate God’s redemption and restoration today, and let’s also join him in that amazing and wonderful work!
