I remember the first time I heard this song as a high school student that I was absolutely touched by it. Even to this day, I find it to be a touching reminder of God’s love for me. His love is deep enough that when I was absolutely disinterested in a relationship with him, he still pursued one with me. As Paul would phrase it in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Today as you listen, I hope this song moves you in the same way it moved me so many years ago. Together, let’s experience the wonderful joy that comes from having a Savior who loves and leads us not because of anything we bring, but because it’s part of his gloriously merciful and loving nature. It’s who he is.
