Remember March?

This is something we promoted hard core a few months ago, but didn’t want it to fall off of your radar?

Remember March? I do. It began with harsh NWI March weather conditions. A few days in, we celebrated the return of the sun to times later than 4:30pm. I celebrated a birthday, and our friends the Mehrles launched a church in Georgia. And of course, who could forget how March ended? Baptisms… and lots of ’em. Over 100, if you were counting (which we were).

I really love so much of the stuff we talk about on Sunday mornings and work through together as a church. I really love getting the opportunity to teach. But this was perhaps my favorite message series we’ve done in all of 2013. We took some time to get spiritually strong; to be people who could experience the fullness of life’s joy, withstand difficulties and pain, and be poised to be used by God to change lives. It was cool stuff. We talked about STRONG practices: Play, Prayer, Study, Service, and Fasting. All five of these rhythms developed in our lives have great potential to help us grow as followers of Christ and grow in our relationship with God.

Even though the series is over, there’s still a great resource to help you out. Go to, and you can access the STRONG Challenge website. Here are tons of different challenges to help you get STRONG. What I loved was that they were all so unique, and whether you’re on the road on vacation or just waking up early at home, these are things you can do wherever you are (making them great for summertime).

During summer, it’s easy for us to get a little out of shape spiritually, isn’t it? Our schedules change, we become preoccupied with a bunch of different stuff… I want to encourage you to go “P90X” on your spiritual life, and kick it into gear as we head back into the fall! It could be a great way for you to grow and allow God to shape, change, and form you into who he wants you to be for the next season!
