What is the Gospel?

Nothing super fancy here on the Cultivate blog for today. Just wanting to share this video from N.T. Wright.

Those of you who are regular readers here on the Cultivate blog are probably pretty familiar with my love for N.T. Wright. He’s a sharp scholar and theologian, but also has a big heart for the mission of the church and God’s people being used to make a difference in our world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this video, N.T. Wright offers some brief thoughts on the gospel. What is it? How do we, as followers of Jesus, accurately present it to others? For me, it was informative and insightful, and offered some great thoughts on key crux points of our faith: Jesus life, his death, his burial and resurrection. In a year where our church is hyper-focused on being outward, I don’t think we can keep those concepts in front of us enough, especially as we think about how we might present the gospel story to our friends and family who are far from God, in hopes that they might discover new life through Jesus.

So take a few minutes out of your day today and watch! You’ll be glad you did.
