Emmanuel (Hallowed Manger Ground).

Today’s offering has a decidedly Christmas theme (it is December 17, after all). It’s called “Emmanuel (Hallowed Manger Ground)” by Chris Tomlin. And as I just discovered, if you accidentally forget to put the space in between “Chris” and “Tomlin,” it spells Christ. How Christmas-ey is that? Man… all kind of Christmas connections happening here on #MusicMonday.

For me, I found this song provided a great reflection surrounding a lot of what we’re talking about as a church, and exploring the identity of a God who is truly with us. As the song says, Jesus truly was God incarnate, here to dwell. In the truest possible form, he was God with us. And this Christmas season, that’s a really cool thing for us to reflect on.
